Artist Statement
“With the passage of time there is always a problem with trying to reconcile acknowledging the moment while being in the moment. Perhaps the desire to capture that instant is actually a desire to occupy it. And perhaps these moments can be compared to a synapse: an empty space in anticipation of action.
It is the elusive nature of time, space, and circumstance that captures my interest. More specifically, the distillation of these elements into fragments by means of simultaneously doing and undoing, thus, expanding time.
And so, when I think about time, place, and circumstance, memory and experience, I think we invent while being invented. And in this process we are able to occupy that uneasy space that exists between moments. Even if only for an instant.”
